Law and Order in The Far Fens

The final word on any law lies with Lord Vassal, or in his absence, his son (unfortunately). Each village or town has an appointed ‘Sheriff’ who speaks with Lord Vassal’s word and can hand down all sentences save for those punishable by death, for example, rape, murder etc. Other laws that lord vassal has seen fit to instill have been the outlawing of raising the dead for necromantic means and summoning of undead and demonic entities. Not wanting to get bogged down in detail, we can leave it at that. I’m sure you will come up with some more.
While all these laws are well and good, often a blind eye will be turned if it is the interest of someone in a position of authority, and corruption is not unheard of.
As long as his subjects are generally happy, Lord Vassal is too.
